Taking their name from a lyric in the U2 song “New Years Day”, San Diego indie rock trio Arms Entwined is on the verge of releasing their debut EP, “Tell Them I Sent You”, in early 2009.
This is the third attempt by Tim Penwell and Dan Gaskill to form a more perfect union. They started in 2002 with the Osophists, which unfortunately failed in 2005. In 2007, they formed the group Close Talker which resulted in some promising airplay, but soon fell to the wayside due to tension caused by creative differences between band members.
Hopefully this third attempt gels and moves them forward as the group seems to have a perfect range of sounds in their repertoire, incorporating top-range influences such as Minus the Bear, Fugazi, Superchunk, and definitely a bit of Treepeople’s fuzzed out growl thrown in as a perfect topper.
